DR. PATTY SHAFER
After almost four decades of experience in Texas education organizations, Dr. Patty Shafer brings a unique knowledge base to mediation and training others in mediation. She has served in a variety of roles—including teacher, counselor, principal, C&I director, and school district superintendent, as well as deputy executive director and executive director for regional education service centers (ESCs) in Texas. Her experience has been in various school districts that include a small rural district, several medium-size districts, a very large city district, in addition to a small Texas ESC and the largest ESC in Texas. During her career, Patty has presented at educational conferences at both state and national levels and authored articles in professional education magazines.
Now retired from full-time work in the education field, Patty is a frequent mediator at the Central Texas Dispute Resolution Center (DRC) in San Marcos, Texas—in both civil and family mediations. She was recently elected to serve on the Board of Directors for the Central Texas DRC and chair their training committee.
